Kimberley Climate

The Kimberley is a region of great contrast.  Ranging in temperature from under 5degrees to over 40 degrees in the course of a year, for visitors to the Kimberley these seasonal variations offer unique opportunities.

WINTER SEASON – MAY TO OCTOBER

Winter is traditionally the most popular time to visit. Visitors from all over the world flock to the region where the days are fine, with temperatures ranging from 20 to 30 degrees.

The nights range from cool on the coast while inland the wind off the desert can see temperatures plummet to near freezing.

The fine warm days create the perfect opportunity for outdoor activities; which become the highlight of your holiday experience.

SUMMER SEASON – NOVEMBER TO APRIL

Summer in the Kimberley is a great time, there are fewer crowds, the days can be hot and nights are balmy.  Contrary to popular belief, the rain does not fall constantly, but when it does it is generally in short heavy downpours, late afternoon and evenings.

The build up creates spectacular lightning shows and sunsets, the water run-off causes thundering waterfalls, filling waterholes. Bird and wildife abound.  This is a great time to sit back and watch as Mother Nature refreshes the land.

Although many tours operate year round, during the summer months some attractions and tours cannot be accessed.  As with any holiday, it’s a matter of planning and getting advice from the local, trusted and independent experts at the Broome Visitor Centre.  So whatever the weather, relax, enjoy and … let yourself go.
